Doramax® Pour-On has a substantial list of indications for persistent activity against reinfection from important parasites of cattle.
This, coupled with the product’s convenient pour-on format and Chanelle’s new applicators, can help to reduce labour and handling of animals on beef and suckler farms.
Harry Lalor and his father Joe, find this aspect of the product extremely appealing - watch their story below.
Given its persistency, Doramax® Pour-On can be used as a ‘housing’ treatment up to five weeks pre-housing.
This will also help to reduce any worm-based impact on thrive in the weeks pre-housing – traditionally a time of high parasite burden on pasture.
Once animals are treated and then housed within five weeks, no further treatments for worms or lice are required.
The strategy minimizes handlings required and potential stress on farmer and animal at housing time.
Where aproduct like Doramax® Pour-On is to be used at housing, best practice would be to use different active ingredient classes earlier during the grazing season, where needed. This acts to slow the on set of anthelmintic resistance.
In such an instance, a first dose for suckler calves in the summer time when symptoms are evident, or faecal samples return high counts, could be Albex 10% or Chanaverm.
Different active
Doramax® Pour-On can also be used safely in pregnant and lactating beef females.
Set-stocked cattle can receive Doramax® Pour-On at turnout and 8-10 weeks later and should not require further treatment for worms at pasture.
As above, where this strategy is used, best practice would be to use different activei ngredient classes if a housing dose is required, such as Albex 10%.
